The reproductions of the preparatory sketches for “Il trionfo di Minerva” and “La prova di un ballo”, made in 19th century Parma by local artists Giovanni Batiste Borghesi and Vincenzo Bertolotti for the Teatro Regio, have been donated by Fiere di Parma to the Museo Glauco Lombardi museum in Parma.

Both designs were star pieces in “Le muse in scena”, the exhibition curated by Alberto Nodolini and Alexander Malinverni that piqued visitors’ curiosity and won the public’s approval at this autumn’s edition of Mercanteinfiera. As part of the prestigious antiques, modern and vintage collectors’ fair, this inspiring fringe exhibition put the spotlight on the extraordinary work of artists commissioned to make the curtains and backdrops for the Teatro Ducale, as it used to be known, a favourite project of Marie Louise.

The donation further strengthens Fiere di Parma’s ties with the region, and in particular with its significant museums sector, underlining the importance of culture and enabling an ever greater proportion of the public to access art in its multiple expressive languages.
