“Illustrator” – special section

First edition of “ILLUSTRATORE.”: a Mercanteinfiera exhibition curated by Alessandro Canu and Jamais Vu which aims to highlight the work of those illustrators operating in the difficult but very rich independent circuit. Among the artists selected for this brand new show are James Kalinda, Isabella Bersellini and Johnny Cobalto, who are known in Italy for works ranging from editorial illustration to graphics and murals in abandoned factories.

Few words.

“Illustrator.” will present very different examples of work within the independent sphere.

After searching in the artistic “underground” of Parma and its province (and beyond), everything will be given a voice: from the artifices of fanzine drawing to wall painting; from virtual illustration to 3D sculpture; from pop surrealism to the macabre; from traditional to iconoclastic work; always in the sphere of figurative art.

It is a look at “another type of creativity,” the more intimate and difficult one to be found in the work of everyday graphic artists.

Thanks to this project – realized, promoted and conceived with Mercanteinfiera – it will be possible to stage a first real encounter between different cultures and imaginations, giving the artists the opportunity to become involved in the exhibition without any restrictions, starting with their choice of displays.
